3 Tips For Choosing a CBD Tincture From Your Local Supplier

by | Aug 24, 2021 | CBD Products

While many think a CBD oil and a CBD tincture are different terms for the same thing, they are actually very different products. Since they come in colored glass bottles and can have similar appearances, it’s important to read the labels before choosing a product. In an oil-based product, the CBD is carried in an oil, such as coconut or olive oil. Alternatively, zero THC tinctures are made by soaking the CBD compound in an alcohol-based solution. Once you know how to look for tinctures, these tips can help you choose the best brand.

Look For Cannabinoid Content

A full-spectrum CBD product will contain less than 0.3% of THC and shouldn’t contain other cannabinoids. A broad-spectrum product shouldn’t contain any THC, but it may contain other cannabinoid compounds. To obtain zero THC tinctures, look for products that are labeled as CBD isolates.

Check the Potency

You can evaluate the strength of the product by checking the certificate of analysis (COA). The COA and the ingredient listing on the bottle should match. While some variation is possible due to natural differences from batch to batch, you shouldn’t see more than a 10% discrepancy. Any more than that should prompt you to choose a different product.

Evaluate Purity

You should also consider purity in picking a tincture since contaminants can get into the batch due to impurities in the plants. Each batch should be tested for pesticides, heavy metals, and mold. Different brands may also check for other types of toxins, but, at a minimum, they should be testing for these contaminants in every batch.
