Choosing the right clothes for women consists of various criteria; one is the body type or the body shape. Knowing your body type or shape will make choosing the right clothes easier and will help you look and feel good. There was a time when women were thought to fit only into three body shapes: pear, apple, and hourglass. Studies now have shown that there are actually about eight different body types. Here are three of the more common things to know in order to choose the right clothes.
Straight Body Type
The straight body type is the most common shape for women. The straight type is also called the rectangle or ruler shape. This is because the bust and hips are in the same line. The backside is flat, and the waist is not defined. In this shape, the legs are probably big and shapely. This is the asset for the straight body type. To choose the right clothes for women with this body shape, the top and bottom should be dressed proportionately. The waist should be enhanced with a large belt, and the shoes should have angled straps to draw attention to the legs.
Pear Body Type
The pear body type is like a triangle. The bust is smaller than the hips, and there is a defined waistline. In this body type, there is a nice neckline as well as slim arms and shoulders. The waistline is the best asset in this type and should be enhanced when choosing the right clothes. Tops that add volume and bottoms that diminish the lower parts of the body are perfect. This would include tops with a fitted waist and/or V or U-necklines. Tops that include ruffles or fluttered sleeves work best. Off the shoulder tops help to enhance and give volume to the top while emphasizing the waistline.
Oval Body Type
In today’s world, the oval body type is becoming one of the most common types. The full midsection outweighs the sometimes large bust and narrow hips. The waist is the widest part of the frame and is undefined. The neck is short, and usually, there is a full face. The backside is flat, and the legs are slender. The thing to know about this body type is that the midsection should be minimized so as to create a waistline. The right clothes to choose would be those that add curves to the lower half of the body and tops that are lengthy and define the waist with stitching or belts.
A woman’s body type will change over time. It could be from weight changes or natural growth, but acknowledging the changes and knowing these things about the various body types will help women to choose the right clothes.
