Everyone loves bling and it can be found anywhere, including on your body, clothing, phones, cases, travel bags and now on your cake. While there have always been certain sprinkles and other decorating options, edible bling is a newer option that is becoming a rave with cake bakers and eaters alike. Everyone wants to have a little more excitement and having edible diamonds or pearls is the perfect way to do that.
Glitter
Edible glitter by Nycake is a really fun and inexpensive way to add color and pop to your cakes, cupcakes or cookies. Most of the glitter options look like regular glitter that is shaken onto a piece of paper. You shake the desired amount onto the cake and instantly have added color and shine.
Other glitters are larger and square, which still adds color, but can be used to fill large spaces on a cake more quickly and efficiently. If you want a little something extra on a holiday cake, consider green trees that glitter, silver stars, pink hearts, gold stars, silver hearts or gold hearts.
Colors for regular glitter include blue, green, black, lavender, pink, red, white, yellow, aquamarine, brown, burgundy, emerald, pastel blue, silver, metallic gold, metallic silver, rainbow and orange. Glitter squares come in colors such as silver, gold, red, blue and white.
Most regular glitter comes in 1/4 ounce though you can buy them in bulk sizes of up to four ounces if needed.
Sugar Diamonds
They say, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” and who wouldn’t want to be friends with edible cake diamonds on their cake? There are many options available, including small, extra small, medium and large. You can find assorted jewels, tear-drop jewels, jewels shaped like petals and many other shapes to fit any needs.
Colors include yellow, pink, lavender, green, blue, red, assorted colors, lime green, black, purple, aquamarine and regular clear or white diamond options, among others. You can find large or small assorted colors and can even find molds to create your own sugar diamonds or beads.
Pricing
Depending on the colors and sizes you select, you can find these decoration options for a decent price. Typically, the bigger the edible bling, the more expensive it is. However, you may also find that clear or opaque “diamonds” are more expensive than colored or multicolored bling options.
