Try this technique to prepare your pet for their soft collar:

  • 1. Introduce your pet to the collar by placing it in areas they frequent near their food and water bowls and where they sleep. Give them a treat when they sniff or approach the collar for 2-3 days.
  • 2. Following this first step begin to touch your pet with the collar. Be gentle, petting and stroking to make it a pleasing experience and give them a treat after you touch them. Let your pet investigate the soft collar as they wish and follow this procedure for another 2 or 3 days.
  • 3. You can then try fitting your pet with the collar loosely. Once on pet them and praise them enthusiastically and offer them their favourite treat or food to enjoy when they are wearing the collar. Remove the collar and leave it for them to sniff and touch as they wish.
  • 4. The last step is to secure and buckle the soft collar onto your pet. If your pet is upset remove it immediately. If they don’t seem troubled by the collar, let them wear it and again offer snacks. Remove the collar only if they become restless.
